First of all, I am very happy to find this forum. Untill yesterday I only found videos and pictures about pramenka. It was a big surprise to find a similar kind of sheep at almost 1000 km distance and into another country. Jiana was created in my region and now it is wanted by sheep breeders in all my country. They like very much the sheep head, but also because it is the best romanian sheep in producing milk and meat.
Our lambs have about 6-10 kg at birth, they are smallers only when they are twins. Prolificity is about 150-160 %.
I have 140 sheep, this year I only milked 54, next year I will milk about a hundred.
This year my production of cheese was about 36 kg for every milk sheep. The price in our country is 18 lei per kg, that means 4.5 euro.
Lamb price now is about 10 lei, 2.3 euro per kg in living weight. I sold my lambs before Easter. The meat price was 5.5 euro.
Last year I made an experiment: I bought an italian sarde male and I have now 20 females half italians. I made this to increase the production of milk. Next spring I will find out the results.
